I have tried time and time again, but i just cant delete kik messenger off my macbook pro, i thought the app would work on my MBP, but it is for iphone. i have tried almost everything.

Oooh, sorry I understand, no i haven't, I don't have an iphone and i though that kik would work on my Macbook Pro. I have tried deleting it out of applications, purchases, the trash and command>delete. But there just aren't any options for deleting apps.
(this is probably quite a silly question, but i am very new to Apple and its products)

I still don't know what you have done, really. How did you donwload the app? Did you download it in iTunes? If so, then delete it from the Apps listing under Library in the iTunes sidebar.
iTunes apps have the extension, ".ipa." You can search for it using Spotlight, but if you used iTunes to download it, then you need to remove it in iTunes.

It should. But since you purchased it in iTunes it will remain on your purchase history which you cannot change. Just don't download it again.
And, just so you know iDevice apps cannot run on Mac computers or vice-versa.
