unable to open .avi file

I've tried to open my .avi fles but it all says on Quicktime that "a required codec is not available".

It's currently the same for ALL my .avi files.

Didn't have a problem with it previously.

Any clue why?

Quicktime-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I Tried what was suggested on your link but I can't even open the file as it says the codec is missing. But I can't find out what codec is missing.
