Is there any way to stop the command to erase the iphone in Find My Iphone? I misplaced my phone, found it again, and now want to avoid erase and recovery of data and apps. The phone is currently in Airplane Mode.

I just saw an earlier discussion that said the command could not be withdrawn. So I assume the issue is resolved.
I believe I've seen people remove the device from Find my phone using iCloud.com and it has canceled the wipe command. I cannot confirm this, it's not something I've tried (or want to try 😉)
Thank you for the very prompt reply. My service provider is unblocking the SIM in the next day or so, and that will give me time to consider your suggestion. If anyone has tried this solution, I'd be happy to hear about the results.
If you also backed up to icloud, that I have seen work, you just restore from that backup after erase is over.
Thanks for the advice. What happened is that the phone was never erased. I'm not sure why: perhaps because I backed up the phone to the computer before connecting it to the network (I had it in Airplane mode).
I have mixed feelings about that. I would talk to Apple and find out, or at the very least try to find out what happened. You do want to make sure, that when you do need to press that button- it works. Right?
I am having the same problem, and I need to stop the erase. Did the erase process start at all for you? I am guesing not, but could you please verify?
I know this is extremely late but I want other people to know that read this because I just had this problem.
I accidentally set my girlfriends iPod to erase and before she turned it on. I deleted the iPod from my device
list on FindMyIphone App, and by deleting it, it cancel the erase request.
