upgrade marc pro2,1 8-core

I am trying to find out if I can successfully upgrade my Mac Pro 2,1 (8-Core) to OSX Lion. I've read some stuff that scares me, and have had trouble finding a definitive answer. Can anybody give me something factual on this? Thanks a lot.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Dual Quad (8 core) 3.0Ghz 14GB
