Why is Lion crashing randomly

I have an iMac 20-inch Late 2006. I love this mac and I've never really have had any issues with it before but for the past couple of months, it's been crashing randomly. I tried using Disk Utility and TechTool Pro but neither reported any problems. I tried repairing disk permissions, reformatting the drive (twice), and reinstalling Lion (10.7.3 & 10.7.5), but the crashes continued. Some crashes restarted the computer automatically, some just lock the comupter and the only way to shut it down is by turning off the power. Other crash are proceeded by horizontal lines across the screen or the screen would would appear garbled before locking. The screen issues led me to think that the video was going bad but I had the Genius peeps check it out for me at the Apple store. Although my iMac is no longer supported, they were kind enough run a hardware diagnostics. To my surprise, there were no problems found with the hardware. The conclusion was that the crashes are related to the software. This appears likely as I'm running on Safe Mode right now and haven't had a crash yet. I've pasted the Hardware Overview information, a portion of the crash report, and the system log below. I can decipher some of it but I still have no idea what's causing the crashes. Maybe, it's time for a new iMac.
