My "Junk" mail indicates a number of messages but I am unable to view these. Is there anything that can be done to correct this issue?

My "Junk" mail indicates that I have a number of message in the maail box but I am unable to view these. What adjustments must I make to my set up in order to view the messages prior to either deleting them or accepting some that may not be "Junk"?
