Why do text messages appear on multiple apple products

We have an iPad, an iPad mini, and iPhone. When I text my husband the text message appears on the iPad. When my daughter texts with her iPad mini it shows up on my iPhone. Help!

Hello Patjody,

This recently happened with my family, and it can definitely get confusing. You need to update your Messages Settings on your devices so that they receive messages intended for the owner of that device.

By going to "Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:" you can configure what phone number and what Apple ID is set to receive messages on that device. I recommend reviewing the following article for more information:

Use a different email address (free gmail.com?) for each individual device.
