What's the best way to transcode H.264 video footage from a Canon DSLR to Apple ProRez 422 and inport into FCP 7?

thanks,

Eve

I would use Log & Transfer, for which you need a Canon plug-in.Screen Shot 2013-07-04 at 7.15.50 PM.png

But you can also do it in Compressor or MPEG Streamclip.

Thanks, Russ.  I'd like to the the Canon plug-in, but, and I know this sounds really lame: when I go to the canon site, i simply can't find the screen you put up on your Reply.  Also, in the screen you put up, I don't know what software I'd choose.  The OIS MOVIE plugin-E1 says it's for FCP 1.4.  I'm running FCP 7.

Sorry to be lame with this, but I could use a bit more help.

    THANKS!!

No problem. In this screen shot, the disclosure triangle has been twirled open so you can see more details for the plug-in.

    Good luck.

Thanks, Russ.  I think my problem is that i don't know what camera my cameraman used (except that it's a Canon DSLR).  I believe i need to find out the model, then i'll be able to see if this plug-in works with it!

    thanks so much!

(If it doesn't work, i'll use Compressor)

    best,

    Eve
