transition by bringing one clip up from or down to another in FCPX

I need to have a clip emerge from another one or "fall into" it. This doesn't seem to fit into the Wipes or other Transitions in FCPX 10.0.8, which change only how much of each clip is shown from frame to frame without altering the full size presentation of the contents of each frame. Many thanks in advance for the solution.

One way to do this doesn't require a transition. Put one clip in the storyline and the other directly above it as an attached clip. Then keyframe the opacity of the storyline clip from 100% to 0% for however long you want for the change to occur. Add keyframes for the attached clip at the same time points and scale from 0% to 100%. This will give you an emerging clip. To have one clip fall into another just reverse the process and apply opacity to the attached clip and scale change to the storyline clip. You can adjust the ketframe spacing to set how long you want the changeover to take. You can build a transition effect in Motion to accomplish the same effect and publish it to FCP if you want to use this effect repetitiively.
