iPad 1st Generation on iOS 5.1.1 turns off by itself and won't start up.

Hi guys. So here's my problem. I have the iPad 1st Generation running iOS 5.1.1. A while back, probably around a year and a half to 2 years whenever 5.1.1 was released I was updating it and while it was updating my iPad crashed and wouldn't even turn on. I tried waiting for the battery to drain out and charge it but even after a few days of leaving it alone it still wouldn't charge itself. So a few weeks after that I take it to the closest Apple Store and they couldn't even fix it. They replaced it for me even though I was about 2 weeks over my warranty expiring. Worked fine for about a week and out of nowhere it crashes and wouldn't boot up again, basically the same problem as before except it was already on 5.1.1. Stopped using it and gave up. Yesterday I just wanted to try and charge it again to see if by some miracle it would fix itself and it actually turned on and started to charge itself after I plugged it into the wall charger. So after it fully charged I tried to restore it to fix the problem. I plugged it into my computer, ran the restore on iTunes and when it finished I was able to set it up and start using it again. But here's the problem. I set it up and it was working so I decided to go to sleep for the night. This morning I go to use it and again it won't turn on. So basically I'm forced to put it into DFU mode and restore it by connecting it to my PC running the restore process; works for a bit until I stop using it for a bit and whenever I go back to use it the iPad won't turn on when I go to unlock it. This cycle keeps going over and over. I have had to do this process 2 times already since I thought I fixed it last night. Is their any way to fix this permanently? I'm years out of warranty and the closest apple store is in Aventura, Miami which is at least 30-45 mins away with no traffic. Plus I don't want to spend money to get it fixed by Apple when it's so old and I don't have any money anyway lol. Any help would be appreciated.

Apple would not repair it anyway. They may offer another out of warranty replacement to you and that would cost you $250.00. If you can't get the device to restore using recovery mode - I assume that what you called DFU mode - then you are pretty much out of options and the iPad has seen its last days of usefulness.

That's what I'm guessing. It's the end now for your iPad. But really it's just a guess, but its a guess made with the information that are providing, none of which is very encouraging. The only thing that I can think of to try now, would be to reset all settings, in the event that some corrupt setting is causing this behavior. I don't hold out much hope, and it is an extreme long shot. but you have nothing to lose.

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

If that doesn't work, and even though you have 45 minute drive to an Apple Store, they just might be able to determine exactly what the problem is and they may have the means to restore it for you using their more sophisticated Apple Genius software.
