iPhone Charges on the iMac But Not on the PC (It Used To)

sounds like the PC is not providing an enough juice in the USB ports to charge it.

Or the cable/connector(s) may be on the fritz. Try with another one.

ios devices will only charge when connected to a computer with a working itunes install

if something is broken in the itunes install on the win7 machine then it will not charge

Excuse me, my dear, but that is inaccurate. Charging is on a wholly physical level: once it is plugged in with a good working cable, current will flow and the phone will charge. Even if the PC does not have iTunes installed. So I stand on my "bum cable" diagnosis.

And yes. I just tried the experiment on a Win7Pro Dell box wholly innocent of Apple software.

I've never ever been able to charge any ios device with windows pc's without any apple software installed on them

I gotta agree with Rudegar in this one, I charge my phone every day at the office by plugging it into a Dell and iTunes is not installed.

dude, you're totally off track. there's no truth in that. windows install a default usb driver profile for your usb device. the power pins work regardless.

just like usb wall chargers do... there's no itunes in usb wall chargers 🙂

WHOEVER!!! My phone and ipad charges WITHOUT itunes installed when attached to a Dell TS5500. So I typed the wrong name. Big deal. I could be referring to Santa Claus for all I care.

The front usb ports on alot of computers are not powerfull enought to use and charge iphones at the same time. Try the ports on the back.
