Printer not connected - iMac 10.8.4 & EPSON XP400

Printer not connected - iMac 10.8.4 & EPSON XP400

Everything worked fine until Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and latest Apple update of early July with new Epson drivers and after many attempts deleting and adding this printer, using Bonjour or IP direct addressing.

Wireless is fine, no RF interferences, internal printer webpages are correctly accessible, scanning is fine, only printing stops with "Printer not connected" error message.

There is another strange message on CUPS error log, something like "Impossible queuing on Lexmark_Z45 printer".

This was an old printer I unsuccessfully tried to connect to my iMac before buying this new EPSON XP 400 and apparently fully removed from OSX.

I also searched entire filesystem to find Lexmark occurences but nothing was found.

Is it anything related with Bonjour?

Thank you Linc for your suggestion.

After reset I'm able to print once, then I always get the same problem.

So the sequence is:

- Reset printing system

- Add EPSON XP 402

- First print OK

- Next prints not OK, Printer not connected

I cycled various times with the same results.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

grep Browse /etc/cups/cupsd.conf | open -f -a TextEdit

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).

A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

Make sure you repaired permissions and restarted your computer after installing "drivers" especially Epson drivers.

Are there any other computers on the network, and if so, can they print? If the answer is no, then the problem is in your router, in the printer, or in the EPSON software. If the answer is yes, then you should reinstall OS X.

I don't really have anything to add to my last comment. There may be something you can change in the router's settings that would make a difference, but I couldn't tell you what it is.

Since you only have one computer, and it's a desktop, a reasonable option would be to connect the printer with USB.

Linc, thank you anyway for your support.

I also checked other Apple discussions with the same troubles and, at the end, it seems no stable solution has been found other then continuosly reset printing system.

Unfortunately, I cannot use USB because printer is located in another room away from iMac.

If anything we'll be discovered on this subject in the future, please inform me.
