Canon Legria HF G25 (Vixia HF G20) AVCHD compatibility with Mac/FCPX/iMovie?

Has anyone got any experience of ingesting and editing footage on FCPX or iMovie on a Mac from footage shot on the Canon Legria HF G25 (Vixia HF G20 in the USA). This camera shoots AVCHD and comes with software for Windows but not for Macs. Do the files require conversion or is it a straight forward ingest? Thank you for any insights offered.
