Q: Disappointing Time Capsule Setup

I replaced my Airport Extreme Base Station with the latest Time Capsule and I might as well been dealing with a Windows PC for all the frustration that I had.  Part of the problem was that I had updated Airport Utility to 6.3 and after the initial installation, it could not detect my new device.  I had connectivity issues with other wireless devices, had to delete and install 6.2 and just a bunch of hassle.  I finally have things working and I'm not looking for help at this point.  I just want Apple to do a better job of making stuff like this plug and play.  This has been my worst experience getting an Apple product functioning.

According to all the info we have.. 6.2 utility will not work on the new AC models.. so if you got it to work.. well done.

But Apple did belatedly release the info that you MUST have ipv6 local link turned on.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597

For the utility to find the TC.. but that was more discovery by the community than Apple.

Somehow I think the secretive marketing.. where products cannot be released to beta community for testing.. and debugging means upon release the whole userbase becomes the beta community.

I second that - the installation of airport/timecapsule is far from plug and play, especially when it comes to cooperation with third party hardware. I wanted the new TC cooperate with a Speedport 723V, so that the TC would extend the existing network. Could not get that working - the existing network was not recognized. So I use the TC connected with the Speedport and the iMac both with ethernet cables - on the TC with wireless off and in bridged mode. I assume that I could get the same effect with a normal HD connected with USB 3.

Just to note.. Apple have never cooperated.. the very idea is anathema to them. No version of any apple router extends wireless from a non apple router and never has.
