Jul 5, 2013 10:41 AM in response to GrumpyGatorby webdpix,Sorry! I meant the smartcover from Apple (english not my native language).
Meanwhile I searched thrwo some forums that suggest that the magnetic component of the smartcover is in fact responsible for making the sim card reader fail on the long run (the problem only started sensibly 14 months after I bought the Ipad).

Jul 5, 2013 10:53 AM in response to GrumpyGatorby webdpix,Well right now the Ipad is with the operator in tech support. Today I went there and spoke to the techs because they kept saying there was nothing wrong with the ipad.
After I explained that it didn't happen always they put the smartcover on, and after opening and closing it a few times the problem occured. They even took photos and filmed the hole thing. Then they tried it with a Belkin cover and it happend again. Right now I'm suspicious that the continued use of the smartcover damaged the SIM card reader permanently...
