Scanner function on HP office jet not working with mountain lion

I have been to the HP support sight and attempted to download a new driver. It asks me it the software download okay, but does not help when I cant find or access the drivers. The printer portion works. The scan portion just hangs when I try to access it.

I have the printer on a router that is networked to window and mac machines.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), HP Officejet 7410xi

Did you repair permissions and restarted your computer after installing the drivers?

Have you checked your scan settings in System Preferences to make sure it's mapped to the correct printer?

Does scan work if you connect it directly to your MBP or any other comp in your household?

Have you tried to scan using Image Capture or Preview?

did everything but verify permissions. I just did that and found I need to do a disk repair. In progress.......
