Epson 3880 Printer won't print

I have an i5 iMac running OS x 10.8.4 that I recently migrated to (about 3 months now) from a PC. My Epson 3880 printer and 1400 printer will not print from Photoshop CS6 or Lightroom 4. I have printed text and less intensive graphics to the 1400. When I print from these apps all I get in the progress is "Stopped - 'filter' failed". It does not tell me what 'filter has failed. I have deleted and reinstalled, restarted, googled the crap out of it and I see many having this issue up and a few have been solved but whenever I try one of the fixes listed - nothing.

Now when I try to print, say from mail, the 1400 is no longer printing at all, same message.

This is frustrating to say the least since I am a photographer and that's why I switched to mac.

Also, still can't find the generic ICC profiles for Epson that used to be installed with the driver (ie for glossy, matte photo paper). One support forum did mention the location where the 3880 ICC profiles were buried and I found them and dragged them out. No luck with the 1400 yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Select "/var/log/cups/error_log" from the file list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Here are a couple lines from the log:

2013-07-05 9:08:39.032 PM PrintUITool[6664]: There are no drivers posted for EPSON Epson Stylus Pro 3880.

2013-07-05 9:09:00.210 PM AddPrinter[9617]: Unable to verify printer 192.168.0.195: server-error-internal-error (successful-ok)

The first one is repeated several times. I have installed and uninstalled several times and reset the printer system.

I just attempted a print at 10:00 so I could identify the log entries. These are all that are listed:

Thanks for your help Linc.

My machine has sort of spontaneously righted itself.

I deleted and added the printer again the same way I've tried a dozen times already.

It printed one print that it cropped oddly and placed off center.

I printed it again, no changes, and it printed properly.

My machine has not been restarted since the last round of attempts.

No idea what it's issue was.
