Which port and cables to use for video?

Hi, I just bought a new Mac Mini. I have both an HDMI and Thunderbolt ports that "could" be used to connect to a monitor. My monitor is a ViewSonic [about 5 years old]. It has both HDMI and VGA outputs.

So would I try a direct HDMI to HDMI connection? Or do I do Thunderbolt to HDMI? It comes with an HDMI to DVI cable, which I seem to have no use for.

What would give the best signal? I suppose it could even be to use the supplied cable and then attach an HDMI to DVI cable? There should be a video guide with these things.

Thanks,

Vicci

Try the HDMI cable. This is sufficient, so you won't need to connect your Mac mini to your external screen by Thunderbolt
