My brand new 15" macbook pro (non retina display) keeps telling me that no camera is connected, which obviously it is because it's internal. Help?

I hadn't used my camera lately and when I finally went to go ues it on any program it is saying 'no camera connected". Is there anything I can do myself to get it to work? My dad is pretty good with electronics so I would trust him to do it. I bought this computer at the beginning of june from Amazon because the nearest Apple store is kinda far so I don't want to have to go there unless I really must to get it fixed.
