cannot connect using SSL

recently forced to migrate from insight to time warner locally. now I can't get my time warner email on my iphone or ipad as I did before. I have followed all the migration steps from time warner and have verified with them that all my computer settings are correct. when I attempt to set up a mail account on my iphone or ipad it pops up a message saying it cannot connect using SSL, and asks if I want to proceed without SSL. No matter what I choose I cannot get mail on either device, and when I open the email app a box pops up saying the time warner email account is already in use on another device. Time Warner says there is nothing different on their servers that would prohibit email from being received on multiple devices. Anybody got a fix for this?
