Q: How do I get my icloud backups to my Mac?

I had to restore my mac. In doing so I didn't back up my photos on anything other than icloud. When I finsihed the restore, I only ended up with some of the pictures back. Silly me, I figured it was a glich, so I restored again, thinking this time it would work out. That time I did not get any of my photos to come up. I have 2 saved backups on iCloud from phone back ups. One is 3 GB and the other is 2 GB. I can not find a way to open these back ups or get them back onto my computer. I heard that aperture would also download your photo stream. I have that and the recent ones popped up, but none of the ones that I am looking for. I have also purchased a external hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these pictures back?

iCloud will keep the last three backups

When you connect your iPhone to your computer, and select your phone in the iTunes sidebar, you should see  a list of available backups. in the "General"  pane when you click the "Restore" button, like this:

In the list of backups shown, is there a backup from the time, when the photos were still on your phone?

Then select an older backup to restore.

Exactly what did you do? iCLoud has no photo backup available

You phone is backedup to iCloud but nothing on your Mac

As to the external drive - be sure it is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and start runing Time Machine with its default settings ASAP so this doe not happen again
