Try this
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.

@GrumpyGator

@Texas Mac Man
Thanks for the link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3274 it did help.
All I really did was reboot and then use only the right side of the hom button.
Not perfect but I can use it usually 50/50 but sometimes about 1/3 times.
Not the best product out their!
Until the next problem (hopefully there's not)

Sadly the home button haunt has came back!
This time it won't work because of a definite hardware issue. It's a black iPad and the black has separated from the white back therefore I have to try and push the black and the white together every time I want to use the home button.
Any ideas?
Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch>On. That will put a button on your screen that you can tap on and it will open up with 4 options in it - one of which is Home Button. You can use that until you replace the iPad or get it fixed. If you can get it fixed.
@Ralph9430
I have made an appointment at the Genius Bar at Broadway for Friday.
I'm hoping they can just fix it but I'm pretty sure hey are going to have to replace it.
If they do that would be all, my money spent on apps, music, movies and more just gone down the drain can you believe that?! Gosh, Apple
Wish me good luck!
GG out, peace!
You won''t lose any of your previously purchased content, thats yours once you purchase them, even if you change devices.
@GrumpyGator
Well that's good but I really can't afford to pay the replacement and my warranty is up.
What should I do?!

Did you see my post about the workaround for the use of the home button? If you can't afford a replacement iPad you can use the Accessibilty/Assistive Touch setting to create a virtual home button.
@Demo
I already have that but I still need my home button back
I don't know what you tried. You asked GrumpyGator "what should I do" because you say that you can't afford a replacement, so I offered a suggestion. I was just trying to help.
This is the sesond time asking this, but have you tried a restore?
