On the iPod Touch go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and tap the Apple ID. Tap "sign out." Then you will be able to sign back in with the correct Apple ID.

I have done that numerous times and it does not work. When I go to iTunes and App store it shows the correct id under the settings. But then when I go to update or buy an app the wrong id is already in the box that is asking for the password

ok - forget it. It was because the apps i was trying to update were installed under the old id - i deleted them and added them under the correct id and all is good. thanks for your help anyway

I was going to ask who's Apple ID it was.

Glad you got it sorted out.

i have the same problem but it won't let me do that because my friend dropped my iPod in the sink on an accident but it still works so i had to reset it and i need to activate it and its showing someone else's apple id and saying i stole this iPod that i paid a lot of money for and i cant even use it. and it won't tell me the contact information to contact the person who thinks i stole it so i can't even get it straight!
