Windows 8 and itunes problem (iphone not showing up as a device)

I would be concerned too if iTunes was not recognizing my iPhone. I wasn't sure what steps you have already tried, but I recommend reviewing the steps in this article (you can skip any steps you have already taken):

Try one or more of the following:

- Restart your computer

- Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes

- Reset iPhone (will NOT delete everything) [Settings>>General>>Reset>>Reset All Settings]

- Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista or 7) and see if it shows (should show as a digital camera)

- Restore iPhone (will DELETE everything) [Settings>>General>>Reset>>Erase All Content & Settings]

- Make sure iTunes & iOS Firmware is up to date.

I had this exact problem with Windows 8.1 and my old iPod Touch Gen 2. I went through so many resets on the iPod and reinstalls of iTunes before finding your post here. Double thumbs up, thanks for the help!

This worked for me. I've been sitting here for an hour trying everything. Different cord, restarting computer/iphone, resetting my iphone settings, reinstalling itunes... And that was all it took! Thank you! 🙂

rkfo That link had the right fix. although for every time I plug an iphone in this process I have to redo.

I wonder what the permanent fix for this issue is?

Meh, finally working. Still hate Windows 8 😟
