Q: usb thumb drive effects track pad

I have a new Mac Mini running OS X 10.08.04 and bought a nee 16GB THUMB DRIVE 3.0USB. When I connect it I loose the ability to use my wireless track pad. Anyone else have this issue or know how to get around it?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), 16GB Lexar 3.0 USB

Wireless BT or wirless 2.4 GHz that needs a USB dongle?

If it needs a USB dongle, get a self-powered USB hub to plug USB devices (AC plug into wall powers the USB devices) into so that all connected USB will work without draining the intenral power supply.

I am using Mac Wireless bluetooth keyboard and track pad and the USB is a thumb drive. Once I pug it in I loose the Keyboard and Trackpad. It pops up saying "connection lost" and will not work. Once I unplug the USB 16GB thumb drive they both come back.

Still, try the externl powered hub. At some point you will have more devices that you want to be powered externally, and the $20 you spend on the useful device will help diagnose the situation.

Then report back.
