Remote app won't find iTunes library

Two macs on an Ethernet network through wireless router with wifi. New iMac - Remote finds iTunes library just fine. Old Mac - osx 10.5.8 iTunes 10.6.3 - iTunes "sees" my iPhone or iPad, but the app spins until "can't find library - check network settings" comes up. I have followed all the troubleshooting tips and suggestions here to no avail.

iPhone 3GS - iOS 6.1.3

iPad 4

Please help if you can. This has sucked the life out of a perfectly good Sunday afternoon.

Hello walstib89,

It looks like your secondary Mac does not meet the system requirements for use with the iOS Remote app:

System Requirements

Remote app requires iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iOS 5 or later and one of the following:

- Apple TV

- iTunes 9.2.1 or later

About Remote app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Thanks,
