PC and iTunes no longer recognize my iPhone 4?

Hoping someone can help as I'm completely at a loss and super frustrated.

My PC & iTunes no longer "see" my iPhone 4 when I connect it to my computer. I've tried all my USB ports- they all charge my phone, but it does not show up in device manager, etc. I have also tried updating iTunes, reinstalling iTunes, restarting my iPhone, completely charging iPhone before plugging in, restarting my computer a billion times, and making sure it is not conflicting with any security software. I've also gone into MSconfig and followed these directions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1275. Nothing has worked.

I am running Windows XP Media 2002 SP2. I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1.3. I connected my phone to my computer back in January before updating to 6.1.3 and computer recognized phone just fine. Have not tried to plug in since, but now I really would like to pull the pictures off my phone and start fresh.. But can't.

Help? 😕😕😕

When you removed iTunes and reinstalled, did you do it by the instructions in this support guide? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925

If not, try that again. After that, if you are still having trouble, with the phone connected, go to My Computer, right-click and go to Device Manager. See if there are any red "x"s or yellow triangles beside anything listed there.

Have you tried connecting the phone to another computer? You can try to connect to another computer that has iTunes connected. Make sure that computer does not have iTunes set to automatically sync. After that, you should be able to import your pictures from the Camera Roll via the Scanner and Camera Wizard for older versions of Windows, or via the Import manager in the newer versions of Windows.

Have you checked to make sure your Windows is up to date? Is SP2 the latest update for that version of XP? While you say that you did connect to the computer some time in the past, the tech specs for the iPhone 4 show that Windows XP needs to be SP3.

I had this same issue, and was able to resolve it using this article:

Can't connect to the iTunes Store - Apple Support

Specifically, there is a link in that article that refers to resolving conflicts with software that monitors internet traffic (If you see error 0x80090318 when you try to open the iTunes Store - Apple Support). I downloaded and ran the autoruns.exe app and found remnants of PCProtect in my registry. Once I deleted those in Safe Mode, I restarted the computer. iTunes connected to my iPhone and the iTunes Store without a problem!

Hope this helps!
