Hi, I am having problems with Safari loading web pages as I am getting beach ball effect quite often today. I have checked that the Internet connection is good, I have also removed webpages in history. Can anyone give me advice please as I am fairly new to iMacs and not young?
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
All sites, or only some?
Are any other browsers installed, and if so, do they show the same behavior?
What about other devices on the same network?
With Safari open, press Command + Option + E on your keyboard. That will empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari.
I've had a similiar problem for the past couple of days. Safari very slow, beachbally and hangy. Other browsers working fine. Mobile Safari working fine on other mobile devices in the network. In fact, other Macs on the same network have no Safari problems. May have to switch primary browser.

Thank you for your reply. I tried what you recommended but did not 'see' anything happen, however since posting and also removing all my history things seem to be better.

Hi Linc, thank you for your reply to my post. It seemed to be all web pages that I tried to visit, everything else ok no problems. My Grandson suggested clearing history, which I have done, and things seems a lot better. Thanks again
1. Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the box next to " Remove saved names and passwords".
Click "Reset" button
2. Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Turn off Extensions, if any temperorily.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Try Safari again.

Hi Everyone who responded, thank you so much, everyone helped. I would like to particularly thank Dominic because he gave me such easy to follow instructions, which I appreciated. Unlike you seasoned Mac users I am fairly new to it all and almost 70 years of age so find technology a little difficult at times.
