after a LogMeIn scam...

Friends got themselves into a LogMeIn scam with a fake tech support guy, going to the Logmein123 site and entering his key.

I visited them and tried multiple online suggestions to find visible/invisible files, but nothing showed up. However, the scammer's footprints were all over the Console log.

Finally copied their documents to an external drive, reformatted the internal HD, and reinstalled OS X.

Questions:

Are they now safe from this guy, if they don't accept another "support" session?

Could any of their documents (photos, text, emails, etc) be infected somehow?

Thanks.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
