Olevia LCD TV

Olevia LCD TV

I'm trying to get an Olevia LCD TV to connect via VGA cable to my Powerbook. The PB detects the display, but the TV isn't detecting the powerbook. Are they compatible? I don't see why the screen would reject a mac (it works fine on a Dell PC tower).

The screen is 23" which for the Apple Cinema display (20") will work on the 12" PB.

Any ideas?

Hmm. Funny. I tried to hook my PowerBook to a friend's Samsung 215TW (widescreen) display using DVI. The PowerBook recognized the display, but the display didn't show a picture. When I tried going with VGA, it worked.

Odd.

Having a similar problem with the 15-inch G4, except that I'm going through DVI. The G4 SEEMS to recognize the DVI connection when I plug it in, but does not detect the display -- and the display is not detecting the G4.

For some reason, Olevia and Mac do NOT like one another. (sigh)

Have you tried plugging in the DVI cable with the PowerBook off or in sleep mode? I finally got my PowerBook to work with the display when I figured out to do this.

Try "detect display" and fool around with the settings for the sizes ect. It might help. I hook my ibook up to a 28" LCD forgot the brand, through VGA and it works fine, i just had to mess around with some of the settings.
