How do I check temperature on my G5?
I want to know what temperatures everything is running at. How can I check that?

How CPU intensive is this? I run final cut pro for editing HDV and need ALL the power I can possibly get!
Hardware Monitor uses about 5-8% of 200 on this DP2.

It partly depends on how many windows you have open in HM and TM.

I might add that Temperature Monitor Lite (included with the download of Temperature Monitor) runs in the menu bar, so it'll be easy to see and won't get in the way when running FCP.
I just downloaded Temp Monitor and Temp Monitor Lite. It showed my system at 186 degrees
That can't be right. I downloaded iStats and it sows it at around 78 degrees, although I don't know if that's in Ferenehit or Celcius. Any thoughts?
A little more comforting, but 78 and 72 degrees is still higher than what they were saying their machines were performing at. Should I be concerned?
I turned on allow to Nap and it jumped down 30 degrees F. Interesting.
I think the iStat widget defaults to Celcius. Click the "i" in the lower right to change it to Fahrenheit, and to configure the display.
Unless you have a good reason to disable nap, you should leave it enabled. It's a good thing - except it sometimes makes some computers buzz, and sometimes causes this buzz to show up in external audio devices.
