Can I send HDMI video to a minidisplayport/thunderbolt port?

I am looking to stream video from a hdmi source to minidisplayport/thunderbolt. I have a hdmi to minidisplayport adapter but I cant seem to get TDM to work.

(My hard-drive also got corrupted when I tried, but I'm almost positive that was unrelated)
