Q: trash will not empty

stuck on "Preparing to empty the Trash..." , "Items to delete: 0". If I stop emptying the trash it gets stuck on "Stopping..."

What do I do?

Relaunch the Finder, then from the Finder menu bar, select

Finder ▹ Preferences ▹ Advanced

and uncheck the box marked Empty Trash securely. Try again to empty the Trash.

It could also be that certain programs in the trash folder are being used. Try to "shutdown" your Mac and see how that goes.

restart the system, use key board short cut option + shift + command + delete .
