I desperately need help, iCloud backup gone after restore.

So i recently went on a vacation to Singapore and Thailand with my family and another family in a group. I took many picture and videos there with my iPod Touch 5th Generation and they were my only source of remembering the trip, i am very attatched to that trip and miss the experience greatly.

After returning back to my home town, i decided to download the IOS 7 beta through unofficial means (i.e without a developer account) which required me to restore my iPod. I backed up my iPod to itunes twice to be sure nothing is gone when i revert back to IOS 6. After backing it up, I decided to update my itunes as i was running on an old version of itunes. I updated itunes and then i unofficilly updated i iPod to IOS 7. I know i broke the rules but i was checking out the new interface as it is really attractive. After playing around for just 2 minutes i decided to revert back to IOS 6 as i realised i was not authorised to test IOS 7. i connected it back to itunes, put my iPod to recover/DFU mode and restored it to IOS 6.1.3, the IOS i had before.

When itunes recognised te device, i clicked restore from backup, and then the problem came! There was no backup present. This put me into great panic. I then started doing the setup on my iPod, i tapped restore from iCloud backup on my iPod knowing that iCloud backs up everything on my device each day as i had switched on iCloud backup on my iPod when i had got it. Then when i tapped restore from iCloud backup, the setup says ''No backup available''. i have already backed up my iPod from iCloud many times before, but now i seem to have lost all my backups.

I am really really desperate to just get back all the pictures and videos i took with it. Im pretty sure iCloud backup does bring back your camera roll because my sister had lost her iPod and bought a new one, i was able to restore her ipod from her icloud account and all her camera roll pictures came back.

Without these pictures i have become really depressed and i have even cried because i seem to have lost all those wonderful once in a lifetime memories, i was already depressed after retuning from the trip and i am extreamely depressed on loosing my camera role.

Please help!! i am really desperate to get the pictures back and i totally regret getting IOS 7. I will do anything to get those pictures back

Unfortunately, we are not permitted to discuss issues related to iOS 7 outside of the Devoper forums. What I can say is that if the backup was created while running iOS 7 you would not be able to restore it to a device running iOS 6.1.3 as restoring to a backup made on a device running a higher version of iOS is not supported. If that was the case, you could only restore the backup if you were still running iOS 7. (There are really only 3 reasons your iCloud backup would not appear: you signed into the wrong iCloud account; you are running a lower version of iOS than the device that created the backup; or the backup was unsuccessful and is no longer in iCloud.)

I can also say that you can check to see if you have a backup on your computer using iTunes by going to iTunes Preferences>Devices and looking at the Backups list. If there is, you can restore that backup to your device, although it may not contain the photos and videos you are looking for.

Beyond that, you would have to pay to join the developer's program, which would give you official access to the iOS 7 beta and the Developer forums to ask for help.

The backup was made on IOS 6.1.3. And in iTunes, it is not sowing any backup 😟 i really need help man!

I have found out the problem with iCloud. it didnt sync properly, i opened the icloud app on my pc and on the backups section it says that my ipods backup was incomplete. Apple clearly states that it stores 3 of your recent backups but i can only see one that is incomplete. Please tell me how to recover thi incomplete backup or tell me how i can explore that incomplete backup to just save my pictures.

Let me say a few things:

you are at that point are more capable of answering your own questions, you know more then any average person does. Your description of problem, you knowledge about icloud backups - good job!

Backup in the cloud is essentially an image file, it does not have a full image to be restored if it is incomplete. If you can't restore - it is useless to you. You would have those three copies if you EVER completed first one.

If that backup was on your computer, you could still extract stuff, but it is not. You will not get access to icloud server.

I regret that happened, but in that case I kind of feel that you did it to yourself. your desire to get ahead, lost you your stuff. You didn't backup to computer, and you didn't make sure you have full backup in icloud.

You are not alone, there are plenty other people on these boards here who lost their stuff, after downgrade. But I got to tell you are the smartest one of them. Another trips and memories will feel the gap, but you got invaluable life experience and your life is better with that.
