Where can I get system software 7.1?

I have a mac SE that currently has System Software 7.0.1 on it and I have a 68030 accelerator and 4MB of ram. I would like to upgrade it to system software 7.1 and cannot find anyone at apple that knows there ever was a system 7 or where to download it or buy floppies of it. Anyone know?

Macintosh SE-OTHER, Mac OS 8.6 or Earlier

You can buy the 7.1 six disk installer set here: http://rescuemyclassicmac.com/buyadisk/buyadisk.html

Or you may want to browse the sites listed at this link.

Or perhaps this source for 800k floppies.

System 7.1 is not available for download from Apple, but you can find complete 6.0.3, 6.0.5, 6.0.8, 7.0, 7.0.1 and 7.5.3 versions.

Please note that the Macintosh SE is limited to handling 800K (2DD/DSDD) diskettes, unless it is an FDHD version. It is possible to install systems not on 800K floppies through other methods (network, external hard drive, et cetera).

Floppy disks (not 7.5.3) are supposed to be created using the Disk Copy 4.2 utility (the Make A Copy button).

System 7.5.3 (slow on a computer of this kind) must be installed in a different way (see the text file).

>If anyone found 7 or 7.1 system disks

You can still download System 7.0 and 7.0.1 (not 7.1) from Apple here:

http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html#system

Look for the files

http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English -North_American/Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_7.0.x/System_7.0.smi.bin

and

http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English -North_American/Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_7.0.x/System_7.0.1.smi.bin

Please note that the individual system disk images are contained in a larger self-mounting image (.smi).

An appropriate working pre-1998 Macintosh computer with a built-in floppy drive is required in order to create actual system floppies from disk images.

Disk Copy 4.2 and 6.3.3 can be found here:

I know they put out 6.05, 6.08, 7.0, 7.0.1 and 7.5.3 at one time (if you try clicking on the links now it says error). As I stated I have a macintosh SE and do not have a FDHD. I need system 7.1 and not the other systems becuase 7.5.3 is too slow to run well on it and system 6.x is too old to run the software I want. Also I curretnly use system 7.0.1 but need to upgrade it for an accelerator card I have that requires either 6.x or 7.1 and will not work right on 7.0.1 or 7.5.3. I have an Iomega ZIP drive to put the disk files on and I have some blank 800k floppy disks but I would like to get system 7.1 somhow legally through apple. I don't understand why they would release older versions and newerverions of system software without the one people need 😝. It's not like I'm making money off of this I just want it to get my old mac SE working correctly. Back when it was purchased its inital price was $3,900 and the extra hard drive cost a lot I think apple could at least let me have a copy of the OS that I need for it...

The first link the guy is charging $30 for it on common 1.4Mb floppy disks. They don't even work in my 800k mac floppy drive. Plus is that even legal for him to sell it? Your third link is nice becuase at least they sell it on 800k floppies but they say it's avalible for free from apple? Where can I download this free version apple has? It's not worth $30 if its only a service of putting it on 800k disks. Your second link crossed out their website that looked like the only place to download 7.1 and most of of ftp links are broken from age. Apples ftp links are all broken even the ones that are on this website. That is nice becuase it has a lot of other software but no system 7.1

Since then I actually lost the filesUser uploaded file. I am going to try to find them somewhere again.... if anyone has them please tell us where to get them for 7.1. As I stated earlier about 10 times we already know apple provides those for free. We NEED 7.1 not 7.0.1 not 7.0 not <7 but 7.1. This update has compatibility for certain things while retaining functionality from older versions that some software requires. If apple reads this PLEASE include 7.1 in your ftp. If I find it somewhere I will email it to you.

Where can I get system software 7.1?
