Q: How to burn VIDEOS to dvd

I want to simply burn a Video, to a DVD to play back on my tv. I don't want it as a file type, cause the tv won't read it... It's got to be a DVD playback type.

How do I do this?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Sorry, the procedures in that Apple Knowledgebase article will not result in a DVD that can be played back in a DVD player.  They result in a data DVD that contains files, which cannot be played on most DVD players.

The OP needs DVD authoring software such as Roxio Toast to create & burn DVDs that can be played in a DVD player.

Unfortunately, iDVD was discontinued and is no longer included with new Macs.  It was originally included in  iLife 11 but dropped from iLife 11 around the time that OS X Lion was released.  This is endlessly confusing because Apple is still selling iLife 11 but the package no longer includes iDVD.  However if you can find an older copy of iLife 11 (pre- July 2011 package, perhaps on eBay) you can still install it and it will work on Lion & Mt. Lion.
