can I use a new ipod touch in an old dock/speaker system

I will be in the states soon and thinking of getting and I pod touch the 5th edition. However I have an older dock/speaker system and wonder will it work in it. I have heard that you have to buy an adaptor. Is this true and are they easy to get and how expensive are they. Also is there any issue with buying one in the states and using it in Europe

I don't think there should be a problem because to my knowledge, all products have the same plug when it comes to iPods. Though the problem may come from how much space there is to plug in your ipod in if it's specifically for iPod.

If it isn't, male to male cord will work.

And the only problem I could think of with using it in Europe is...different plug ins and electricity currents.

is the lightning to 30 pin adapter. There are some third party ones out there, but not a ton. If you go for a third party one go for a name brand not a no name generic.

If you want to buy one, look for a retailer with a good return policy so if it doesn't work you can take it back.

As to world wide use, shouldn't be a problem. The only thing you need to worry about is making sure you have a plug adapter if your charger is rated for world wide voltage, or making sure you have a charger that can handle the world wide variances in power. (Usually rated 100-240V in the specs)
