Glossy or Non-reflective Screen

Anyone here used both the anti-glare (older more common) Laptop Screen and the new optional glossy laptop screen you can get as an option on the MacBook Pros for photo editing?

I was looking at both today and indeed the glossy screen does seem have a bit more umph, contrast, saturation.

However, I am paranoid about the screen glare.

Does anyone know if one or the other has a better color-gamut? I have profiling hardware just wondering if one screen or the other has a better range to work with?

I know both screens are much brighter then the old G4 powerbooks, but would the glossy screen or the anti-glare screen be better in a bright enviroment? Outside?

Thanks.

supposedly the glossy screen had better color saturation (deeper blacks) but having checked both out with my son, we decided a non-reflective MBP. I don't believe there is an impact on color gamut, although it may be perceived that way.

Unless your work environment has uniform light with no direct light whatsoever (incl. overhead fluorescent, incandescent, daylight ....), you will be plagued with patches of reflected light shining in your eyes. The bottom line? We found a glossy screen worthless for our work environment.

I tested my new MacBook outside over the weekend. I can not compare it the new PB without Glossy screen yet, but compared to my non glossy 12'' PB, and other Laptops i have used in the past, i find the glossy screen to be a lot more usable outside, compared to the non glossy screen.

It might be just he overall brightness though...

In general, the glossy screen is a pleasure to work with, nice, rich colors, very good to look at.

Orderd a 15'' PB for work with glossy as well.
