Was told by iPad user that with AT&T can start a cellular data plan and if I turn it off before 30 days, I will be billed for that month only and not again until I turn it back on. What has been your experience?

Was told by iPad user that with AT&T I can start the cellular data and will be billed for only 30 days if I turn it off before 30 days is up. Then I won't be billed again until I turn it on again which could be months later. Have you also found this to be true? What is your experience? Thanks.
