"preparing to download" iPod touch

The article about "Downloading podcasts..." (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3281?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) isn't very helpful.

I have an iPod Touch 64GB and it got "stuck" with 9 podcasts showing as "Preparing to download".

It is connectedt to WiFi - I verified good response via the map application.

I rebooted the iPod Touch and selected "Cancel download", but then it didn't rebuild the list.

How do I get the Podcasts app "un-stuck", or which podcast app should I try?

iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1

Thanks for trying, but no help at all.

"The current download" makes no sense to me, as ALL of the downloads were marked "preparing to download".

After canceling all the downloads, none of them restarted.

I'm not an iPod enthusiast, but I suspect I should be using "some other" podcast program, given the poor ratings for "Podcasts".

Still, I'd be happy to solve the problem with "Podcasts" if anybody has any ideas.
