Half-pedal in midi not working in garageband

I've seen this question pop up with some Logic pro users, but haven't seen a solution for Garageband.

I tested a midi recording with a Yamaha CLP-430 in the store (before I bought it, make sure it works...) and found that any time the half-pedal is used, the notes being played are cut out. This does not occur when the pedal is not used, or if the pedal is pushed all the way through.

The store selling the piano to me will contact Yamaha to see if there's a way of altering the half pedal function, but it seems to be the fault of Garageband, if I'm not mistaken. Is there a fix for this? I'm using Garageband 09.
