Finder cant be opened

Whenever I click on finder, nothing happens. When i try to access finder using "open in finder" under the download stack, it gives me the dialog box saying "The application finder cannot be opened" giving me the error code -600. Here is some stuff I found under the system log:

Jul 10 21:18:05 My-MacBook-Pro.local coreaudiod[130]: Disabled automatic stack shots because audio IO is active

Jul 10 21:18:08 My-MacBook-Pro.local coreaudiod[130]: Enabled automatic stack shots because audio IO is inactive

Jul 10 21:18:46 My-MacBook-Pro.local Dock[193]: no information back from LS about running process

Jul 10 21:20:37 My-MacBook-Pro.local Dock[193]: LSOpenFromURLSpec(file://localhost/Users/Username/Downloads/) failed with -600

Any fixes?

The -600 error is a process error: The Finder process is not active.

Have you tried to Force Quit the Finder? And if not possible, rebooted your system? Does that bring back the Finder?

Is that the first time it happened or does it happen regularly?

Hi,

I would press command + option + escape buttons all at the same time. Scrool down to finder and press relaunch. Then try opening a new window.

If that doesn't work, then press command + space bar at the same time and type in 'Disk Utility' and press enter. On disk ultility, select Macintosh HD and press verify disk. If any errors occour, follow the instructions.

Hope this helps
