Process nessusd using all CPU constantly

The process nessusd is constantly using a large percentage of my CPU. Looking at the process stack this is being run by the kernal. Is there a way I can stop this hogging the processor on my machine. Also, what is it doing.

Have attached some screen shots.

Thanks in advance for any help
