So nail polish remover spilled on my laptop ...

So nail polish remover spilled on my laptop and now the keys are either stuck or falling off. Also, only the middle of my keyboard (7yhbn) are the only keys that light up. How can I get this fixed and any idea on how much it would cost??

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Turn off the MacBook and take it to an Apple Store or reseller. However, liquid spilt may have caused several damages to your MacBook, so it's possible that only a new Mac is the solution if Apple can't repair it. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5511

If you want to purchase a new Mac, just take out the hard drive, buy an enclosure and restore your files onto another PC or Mac, but it may be damaged

We aren't Apple here, just end users like you, but I know from other posts that the cost of a repair could be 60-80 pecent of the cost of a new computer if more than the keyboard is damaged.

You probably know this, but Apple's warranties do not cover accidental damage.

Cost and repair options also vary with your location, which we don't know. Care to give us a hint? Someone may know of a certified third-party repair service in your area that may be cheaper on non-warranty work than Apple.

If you have homeowners'/renters' insurance, put them on notice of a potential loss. Many people have found that their policiies cover repair or replacement fowllowing accidental damge to computers, subject to the usual deductible, of course.

It really is just my keyboard. Everything else is working perfectly fine. It spilled only on my desk when I wasn't looking and I only saw it touch the bottom of my laptop which I wiped up immediately, so I am assuming some may have entered throught the ports on the left side (those are the keys that are some what stuck (SHIFT, FN, Q, A, W, S,) and as i mentioned earlier only the middle lights up. I like in the NYC area. I probobly will end up taking it to an apple store to get it looked at though, but if it turns out to be too pricey, it wouldn't hurt to look into a third-party repair service. Thanks so much!
