Which Os x will work better on a imac g5 1.9 ghz

I have a Imac G5 1.9ghz powerPC, 1 GB ddr2 sdram, version 10.5.8

But i have issues with it, it has white lines going from top to bottom or after couple of minutes the whole screen is full of lines

So i thought reinstalling os x will help


anyone will you be able to help me?

    Leopard 10.5.8 is as far as a G5 PPC Mac can go, as all later verions of OS X require an Intel Mac to run.


    As for the white lines, that would indicate a faulty graphics card, which would require a replacement motherboard - an expensive solution.


    Perhaps it may be time to retire the G5 and invest in either a new or secondhand Intel based iMac that can run Snow Leopard or better?
