Safari keeps changing URL to "localhost"

Using my MacBook Pro I'm trying to get on a website, the website is "tumblrplug.com" but whenever I enter the URL and hit enter it just puts "localhost" in the search bar and says "Safari cant open page http://localhost/ because safari can't connect to the server: localhost" I don't really know what this means? All of my other websites (that I know) are working and this is the only one with a problem. It says the same thing when I'm trying to use my iPhone 4s, as well. This only started yesterday and I tried reseting safari and doing everything it said but nothing has worked.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:

/etc/hosts

Right-click or control -click the highlighted line and select

Services Open

from the contextual menu.* A TextEdit window should open. The window should contain this, and nothing else:

User uploaded file

Does it?

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

From the Safari menu bar, select

Safari Preferences Extensions

Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

I am having this problem on my iPhone 5. I "just" ugraded my software to IOS 7.latest (meaning I had resisted 7 and was still on 6 for ever). So, all of a sudden, a particular website for my swim/tennis club that I use to sign up for courts was showing me the exact same phrase as Julia1997 detailed. I figured that the reservation system was offline. So this morning I tried again on my phone and it still said the "local host" thing. So I tried on my iMac desktop, and the website is working fine. I read your instructions above, but my problem is on my phone. How do I fix? Thank you for you help.
