Trouble with map backgrounds in apps

I hope I didn't post this twice. I have an iPad 2 iOS 6.1.3. I use google earth and zillow plus another real estate app searching for homes for sale. These sites allow you to zero in on a location and see what's for sale where. Three days ago when I pulled up zillow I didn't have a map or satellite background at all. Just dots with house prices on a huge grid. So I went and tried another real estate app I have and same thing. Won't work on satellite or map view. Google earth still works. Does anyone have a clue why suddenly two apps that use a map suddenly don't pull them up? If it was only one app I'd think it was the app. But this is more than one app. I deleted and reinstalled both apps - didn't work. Any ideas out there?

Go to the Maps app and see if you have maps there. If not you have lost your connection with the internet. Try resetting the iPad: Hold down the sleep and home buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.

Thank you so much. I had turned the iPad on and off and it didn't work. I used your method and it worked. I didn't realize the maps could lose their connection while my iPad was still connected to the Internet. Learned something new. Thank you
