Where are photos on iMac after import

I have tried looking at previous similar questions but not found the simple answer. I have imported photos from my iphone directly to my imac. Isimply cannot find where they are now saved on the imac so I can access them, despite trying the spotlight function and searching the finder. Please does anyone have a simple answer?

Thank you in advance.

Photos from iDevices may if the user chooses be stored in iPhoto. They might also be in Aperture if you have that, or anywhere else on your mac you want if you use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) to get the images from your device.

If your images are in iPhoto then

For help accessing your photos in iPhoto see this user tip:

Never, ever access photos managed by iPhoto via the Finder. Specifically, don't do what MichelPM is suggesting. In the hands of an inexperienced user it's very, very easy to trash your iPhoto Library and lose your images.

The location of the Photos is in your Home folder>Pictures> iPhoto Library.

Cntrl-Click on the file, a menu pops up, click on Open Package Contents.

Then you can see all of your images.

Good Luck!

This is incorect and really bad advice - NEVER access the contents of the iPhoto library directly - there is no need to and it is extremely dangerous

As long as you copy contents to outside of the iPhoto library and not actually move anything in the library, I do not have any problem doing this.

Been doing this for years, no issues.

And just opening the library and opening folders and looking around isn't going to corrupt the iPhoto library, either!

You can even look at the images using the OS X Quick Look feature and you can't corrupt the files or folder, either!

Again, been doing this for years and years. At one point, Apple made it easy to just open the iPhoto library folder.

And if users want to know where their photos are actually being stored on their Macs and how they are being stored, I will continue giving this advise!

I never mentioned anything about moving or editing anything from inside the iPhoto library, itself, anyhoo!
