how do you stop advertisements popping up on iMac

can anybody help me im trying to stop advertisements popping up on my imac so annoying when browsing

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011)

What browser are you using? What sites are you on? Any advertisements you are seeing are a function of the application you are running, not the Mac.

Hi finley,

That is the OS....the browser would be Safari, Chrome, Firefox....

Where are you getting the advertisements, and what are you running when you get them?

i think ive sorted it out now thanks very much it was just when browsing on shopping sites that similar deals kept popping up cheers finley from england
