i message help

I had to completely re start/re set my daughters i pod touch because she forgot her password. Now when I try to set her i message it says "sorry that e mail address is already in use" How do I re set things so that I can set up her i message with her same e mail account?

You might need to create a new account because apple/iMessage thinks she is still logged in.
